Unnumbered Malcolms

Post by McKenna »

It might be worth noting in the Wiki that there are a few unnumbered [wiki]Malcolm X Red[/wiki] prints out there. It was mentioned in this thread:

Not sure if there is an error in the Wiki, but it indicated an unusually high number of prints not signed for the Malcolm X Red.

There have been some not numbered, but signed.

The problem is not that they aren't signed, they aren't numbered.

question:
the 3 malcom editions...where they editions of orange/150, green/200, red/200?

i thought 1 of the colors was an edition of 300.

I wouldn't go that far. There's already a small bootlegging problem with a select few prints. No need in helping to crack open the floodgates a little wider.

i agree that not numbered variants(or goofs) of many prints exist, however it appears that a particularly large number of Malcolm Reds have turned up like this...

The last time I can remember seeing a print turn up farely frequently like this was MLK a couple of years ago...

I believe Stalin Lenin banner got the once over as well, and the Tokion Suit poster...

the ebay sellers or slick, they list them as 'posters' not prints and they are offsets on thin paper...

It's a mistake that has happened before. This tends to happen when they stray from the usual run of 300 as the people who number them are used to numbering out of 300.

The run size is definitely 200, your print is just numbered incorrectly.

i've heard on here about quite a few numbering issues so i guess that's believeable. will be easy to explain and hard to believe to the seller once i re-sell this piece as i'm thinking of doing.

I have 2 prints i bought from obeygiant and the came # and unsigned. I have even seen one were it was signed on the top of the print upside down and on the left but the #ing was still in the bottom left !

So does having a misnumbered print detract from it's value?
