Maybe the 29.00 shipping might have had something to do with that. :)
Yeah, I inquired why that was so high but did not receive a response. I'm sure that may have turned-off a lot of would be bidders. Even so, the last one went for a good bit over $300.
I inquired multiple times (to initial listing and subsequent re-listings) asking if there were any condition issues. Got one response to initial inquiry repeating that print was "in original condition." Not very helpful. What if print "originally" had a ding, crease or waviness? He was never willing to clarify. Suspect in my book.

this dude is a total d o u c h e
. I assume the waviness i see in the picture is a reflection of the plastic sleeve you have the print in - is this the case?
The japan pole print is exactly as listed.
prospective buyers beware... i may have to pass if he can't give me a straight answer as to the condition of the print.

and it continues:
Obviously, you bid on this item with no serious intention to pay to try to cut a deal for the stealth bomber print I had up for sale. When you found out the other print was not available you started trying to invent excuses not to fulfill the contract you entered into by bidding on the item in the first place and are breaking ebay's own rules structure. Other people seriously bid on this item with the intent of following their contracted bid and you by bidding with no intention of paying are depriving them of that right. I am not the one trying to decieve anyone. The item was listed honestly and correctly and you are playing games. Seriously, why would I still sell the item to you now, after all this! Why in the world would you bid on an auction in the first place, then win the auction, and then not pay for it.

hi larry,

does "exactly as listed" mean it has waves in it, or are those just from the picture you took? are you trying to intentionally deceive me with reference to the quality of the print? your auction states "Any questions contact me ? Thanks" - i am asking you a question but you seem to be having a hard time answering it. guess we're both annoyed with this one... you want a payment, and i want a straight answer.
this dude is cracking me up.

He does seem douchy. However, you should not bid on an auction unless you are positive you are going to pay. I am a big fan of ask questions first and bid after.

Ebay should implement look-up values for condition the way Amazon does so people have to pick from a predefined list and don't use ridiculous descriptions like "original condition." I remember once an Ebay seller listed in their print as being in "poster condition." WTF

Have to agree there. As mentioned, I repeatedly tried to get an answer on condition and failing that, declined to bid. Subsequent events only seem to validate decision.

exactly, i'll ask as many questions as i want to before sending my money and before or after bidding. if this dude can't answer a question straight, then he clearly does not want to sell the print.

It's interesting to note that his two other auctions list their prints in "original mint" condition where this one only states that it is "original." I'd ventue to guess it's got some waviness issuess hence the ambiguity about the condition and reluctance to answer follow-up questions. Too bad.

Ha, he sent me a second chance offer for $180. I inquired for clarification about the condition. No response. This guy's shady.

For what it's worth you might have lucked out since his only feedback as a seller is about a damaged print from poor packaging...seems like dude has no clue.

I wonder if the bidder will receive the Presidential Seal or the Hostile Takeover that is pictured. Bad listing.

maybe but it seems the demand for the large format prints has died down a bit... for one, it costs a ton to frame just one of them and for that money you could get an HMP

I remember when this image first appeared in a magazine people here were hoping it would become a print... and now that it's a print, it seems like nobody wants it.

I think prices are higher when people have the word obey in the title. Occasionally I will search for "fairey" and luckily I did or I would not have found this gem for so cheap....

Just a note ... both the 90s prints cited here recently are from the same seller, an old pal of mine and shep's. Without going into too much detail, he needed to fire sale his stash for personal reasons -- so I don't think these 2 sales indicate a softening in older prints. june is slow on ebay in all categories so that was his tough luck. at least he was able to make some collectors happy w/a score. helen
