I got 8 BIT!

UPS got you down? eBay making you cry? Need to rant? Do it here.
of course it was only a matter of time, clearly mine is much better (although i do enjoy the 8bit take) :D

there are no more original ideas! but obviously now i have to make a way cooler screenprint! now how do i make a screenprint wink?

Hi there,

Just wanted to let you know I'll be a part of another group show taking place at Blank Space Gallery in Milford, CT this coming weekend. Titled In the Garage: Art Celebrating Geek Culture, the show harkens back to a simpler time in our lives, like saving the Princess in the Mushroom Kingdom, covering three chord punk songs in the garage with friends, or fighting in the ring against Bald Bull.

I've attached a pic of the print I made for the show. 8BIT is a 18"x24" two color, hand-pulled screen print Super Mario mashup in a signed/numbered edition of only 25. The show opens this Friday, April 20 with prints available at the opening and later online. Check out their Facebook page or website for details. You can also follow them on Twitter @Blank_Space_Art for more info.

Cheers,
Armando

No, I was wondering the same thing at first. Our wives work together.

Would anyone have thought to appropriate Marilyn if Warhol hadn't? "8 bit", Mario is an 8 bit character, Obey stickers all over the place with other images, this one looks evil. Surely, there is an image out there that someone could just grab. The top of the lip seems a lot flatter and puckered. In other words, I think this is a coincidence. Though, wish you had done something else with it years earlier. It's cool.

:D thank you kind sir!

the artist himself told me it was indeed a coincidence, and that he feels like a dovche now! i told him i'm not at all worried about it and good luck with the show. if i didn't have it out there anywhere than online forums, someone else was sure to come up with the same idea!

this does motivate me though to do something now! i've had a table top screenprinter and this image as one layer burned into a screen for about a year now! sticker robot will be hearing from me this year for sure (regular andrio and fireball andrio stickers!), we'll see if i can get my a$s making a run of prints too!

Lenticular printing would probably cost a fortune to capture the winking eye.. but maybe not, worth some research
Are there significant cost differences between kiss and die cut?
