Cool but overpriced

UPS got you down? eBay making you cry? Need to rant? Do it here.
I've seen various threads over the past few months relating to cool items where the seller was asking for way too much money so I thought I would start a thread devoted to the subject. I will offer the following:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shepard-Fairey-Bad-Brains-serigraph-silkscreen-on-Wood-2002-signed-1-of-2-/110954875984?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19d56d0c50

Bad Brains silkscreen on wood (2002) 10k starting bid, 15k BIN

Definitely cool but overpriced IMHO.

It was. Wasn't that price even higher to start? There are probably five others on eBay that also served as inspiration.

That is an amazing piece. However, it appears that the frame was made by an "8th grade shop class." According to a recent post on one of the threads, OG is still using that same "shop class" today. :D

Very cool piece. The price is a little high for right now. Horrible time to be selling big ticket items.
3-4 years ago it would have been in the "look at what this sold for" thread.
In a few years it will be well worth the buy it now price.
IMHO

This exact piece sold in June 2011 at the Santa Monica Auctions for 7.5k. Including the auction fees, the buyer probably walked out with it for $9 - 9.5K. Fantastic image but overpriced. .

i do have a vague recollection of having seen it before... something tells me they're holding out for the right buyer. i bet they'd get a better price in a different venue

I think its cool. It is definitely way overpriced. My favorite part of the listing is "After leaving I came across a wall covered in these wheat pasted posters promoting the show. I managed to get one off the wall that didn't rip. It sat in a tube for years and one day I retrieved it and trimmed it a slight bit to fit this frame I had laying around."

Maybe I'm wrong, but weren't those "canvases" for sale 4 or so years ago for like $100 through an online site? There is probably a thread on here somewhere.

I wonder what kind of offers the seller has gotten.

I bid on one of the Big Brother City pieces a couple years back but didn't win and I think it sold for a little more than $200. I

Ha Ha! this guy bought these from craigslist for 200$ in LA. they were listed for 300$. What a deal. seller was asking for cash and i didnt have any at the time, or i would of jumped on em. I think pricing so high when you payed sooooooo much less is greedy as hell. Thats life i guess. :x

I have to dust this thread off to add the gem below. I know variants sell for more but $7500 for this particular image?? I've hung some outrageous numbers on prints before but I've never quite stretched this high.

Looks like they dropped it to $5k. Still overpriced but, that's actually a pretty rare set.
