A Visual Pollution Gasmask sold for $870. http://cgi.ebay.com/SHEPARD-FAIREY-OBEY ... 500wt_1156

I really don't think that is crazy high but compared to what it has fetched in the last year this is double!

I have a feeling that a ton of shill bidding was goin on, they've been sellin for 1000-1300 in the last 6 months and outta no where 2k, i think eBean folks like organizing and rigging auctions to up the avgs on prints, jus my conspiracy theory.
The EB folks are definately inflating prices with fake auctions.
but what's the point of that? do they have their own auctions bid up and then after the auction file a claim that it wasn't paid - then re-list after they get their fees back and hope for a payday? seems like way too much hassle.

it's pretty easy: "buyer and seller have agreed not to complete the transaction". still shows as a sale.
right, but what's the point? i can understand if the seller has a stash of the same or similar prints they want to unload but to do it on a print by print basis seems like a waste of time.
Most of those people have nothing else going on. It may seem like a waste of time, but it is for 100% happening. :(

Umm...wtf! This is the open edition print that is available on obey website for $35, right? Of course the seller conveniently forgets to mention this. lol.

I'd like to think art collectors see the connection between Shep and Warhol, but I call "shenanigans" by virtue of Iconoclast Editions being involved.
Have any of you guys noticed several different sellers (pre-emptivestrike; blackhawk1496; beuys-icon) listing several iconoclast prints at once? Apart form that being weird, the auctions also seem to get shilled (lots of 1 or no star buyers bumping the price up at opportune times).

Some of the random prints go really low and then at times it seems some of them go way too high. I also think there are some shenanigans going around with this guys.

Ok, this was a p*ssing contest. I bid on one not too long ago that sold for around 400. $1425 is insane...at least in terms of recent sales.; great print though

I didn't expect that price either. Not the most loved print out there from previous sales. Though, '97s are a rare breed. All it takes is 2 to tango.

100% shill. There's NO WAY anyone would pay $1000 for that set.
