woah... check these out!!

http://www.iansprints.com/gel-transfers/GATES.html

The Gates Rubber Factory is an iconic part of the Denver skyline. The factory is currently being ripped down so the land can be redeveloped. I took a picture of the Gates factory from the Broadway Station and was thinking it would be cool to immortalize the factory since it will soon be gone forever. The picture was brought in photoshop where I added some effects to it. I then had it laser printed in 3 pieces. Next, the printouts were brushed with a gel medium, left to dry and then the paper was removed leaving a thin transparent film of just the image (the gel transfer). The 3 gel transfer pieces were then pieced together on the birch plank to create the factory. I created a stencil of the outline of the factory and spray painted it in white and then glow behind the gel transfer. The sky of each piece was spray painted by hand and the circle in the sky was created using a small spray paint can. Finally, a clear coat was brushed over the whole piece. Limited to only 6 hand finished pieces. - Ian

Cool stuff.

Just watched a vid of him making a linocut print on his site. He could really make his life a lot easier if he got an etching press.

just released today:

Safari started out as an over exposed self portrait I took. Digitally, I altered the hue and saturation in the self portrait and added all the animals, trees, etc. The image was split in 8 pieces, turned into 8 gel transfers and re-assembled onto each plank of wood. The birch planks were routed out on the backside to create the hanging area and then hand sanded to a smooth finish. Stencils and spray paint were used to give each piece a unique background style. The image wraps around all 4 sides of the wood. A hand brushed clear coat layer was the final addition to the piece.

PollockPrints Open Studio Showcase
Make plans now for PollockPrints' second annual open studio showcase. Following on the heels of Mike Gordon's Thursday night Variety Show at Chicago's Park West, Pollock will once again be throwing open his doors to host a free art show on Saturday, September 7th from 11am-5pm. The show will highlight Pollock's original artwork for bands such as Phish, Umphrey's McGee, the Disco Biscuits and festivals such as the 10,000 Lakes Music & Arts Festival, Wakarusa & Summercamp. These rare pencil sketches and marker renderings will be for sale for the very first time ever! Pollock is also exhibiting a brand new collector's edition box set of prints being offered exclusively at the show.

Pollock welcomes Ian Millard from Colorado, Fred Hosman of Hosco Press, Bruce Horan of New York and Chicago's Tim Ripley who will also be showcasing their distinct posters and canvas.

The show will also spotlight the photography and short films of Jason Kaczorowski who's documented Pollock creations for nearly the past decade through his cameras. Kaczorowski will have a retrospective of projections and prints in his adjacent studio chronicling Pollock's career.

Other artists showing work in the building include Alan Lerner and Aviva Alter of 4F Design, Starshaped Press, John Berton of Ravenswood Clayworks and Green Lizard Solar.

Live Music, food and spirits provided by Burlington Vermont's microbrewers Magic Hat.
