Obey Giant Classy Skate Deck

Post by mr Revs »

Does anyone have any insight on about how many of the early Obey Classy skateboards may have been made in the 90's? This one: http://thegiant.org/wiki/images/e/e6/Sb_giant2.jpg

I am also looking for old skateboard pictures if anyone has any.

Thanks

I dont know #'s but there were quite a few of them...i use to only buy Giant skate decks back in the day. Shepard use to always have them at Big Ednas (old skate shop in Charleston) all the time in the late 90's

Thoughts on 500-1000 or 1000-5000?

I remember that board. Nice. I can't imagine they were very limited at all. I saw them at most skate shops as I remember. Not sure what the run is on a normal deck though. That was not very helpful, but that's all I got. :D

I just picked-up the board I was talking about above. It looks like it is pretty much done by hand (not like some of the more current boards you buy). Could there have really been more than 500 of these made back in 1998? How big was giant skateboarding then?

Well I am not sure about the work on this one in particular, but back in the day all boards were screened, that is why they looked so cool. Hit up Toyroom. He knows a lot about old decks. He is a big time collector.

one thing is for sure... this deck was produced in a much different process then the Black label 20 years of the elephant deck designed by shepeard.

Shep signed my board for me last Friday night. He said "there could not be more than 100 of them made"
