- I have not had the frame made yet... in the above picture, the kiss print in the mylar sleeve is just laying on top of the plexi ... - I am hoping to make it down to the framers to have something else framed tomorrow, I will get more info on the cost for a frame that fits the standard print.... ec

I suppose that if its in the mylar sleeve then it could be pressed up to the glass to keep everything perfectly flat?... or am I wrong in this assumption?...

i am going to have the sleeve mounted to the backing board.... there will be a 1 inch spacer between the backing board and the front glass/plexi -so it won't be press up against anything... just stuck on the back/flat mounting board.

ok... so i picked this up today... here is the frame from the front:

the back, all you do is remove the 6 black screws...

apart:

mylar sleeve with print in it.... and some double stick tape on the back... - i put on 12 pieces

print on the board...

finished :

the only problem i can see is the bottom billows out a bit... ( I put the top of the print in the sleeve first, so the bottom is open.... - i figured it would billow from the top for sure.... did not plan on it doing it on the bottom ) - so i will open her up and just put a clear piece of tape in there to hold it together...

So the opening of the sleeve is on the bottom? Why doesn't the print slide out of it?

they are not easy to slide in.... and the mylar really grabs to the print... ( probably static electricity ... or something my simple mind can't understand ) - I first started to put the print in from the top, then I realized there was no way it was coming out... so I flipped it around and put the top of the print through the bottom... ( if that makes sense )

- no slippage so far ! ec

I think I get it. So it's more pushing the print up into the sleeve, rather than pulling it down into the sleeve. Seems scary.

Looks pretty straight forward, but are the mylar sleeves acid-free?

Not completely; and in time they can do some damage. But I think the time-table on said damage can be a long, long, way down the road.

to answer a couple of the above questions...

frame cost was about $320? from what i can remember.....

the sleeves are 100% conservatory... -so I am not worried about prints being in there long term. (at least for what is left of my living term... )

cost on the sleeves were $6+each (when you buy a packet of 10)

the print is still in the sleeve upside down and defying gravity quite easily... ec

i had castelli's make the frame for me...

sleeves came from??? i think its in the thread.... maybe not... will dig around.

I was going to say... you have to order 10, and since I only have 4 or 5 prints, i could sell the remaining if anybody

wants them.... ec
