Giant Air/Worldwide Delivery better condition has roll marks and some tape on the back unfortunately. :x

Overall paying less than a bill for both of them was well worth it.

Any recommendations for places that restore art prints? I looked some up and this one came up first http://www.restorationbyheart.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Anyone use them before? Also they said minimum fee is $200...

I have contacted "restoration by heart", and had a very nice conversation with Rod in person regarding restoration and art in general. He's very knowledgeable and professional. And he had great confidence in his restorer. I have no doubt they would have done an amazing job if I decided to go forward with restoring my print.

Try Matt Nelson at ClassicsIncorporated.com. He's mostly a comic book guy, but is top notch at any kind of paper restoration.

Generally (IMO) quality conservators specialize in specific mediums and materials; sculpture, paintings, glass, prints, etc. You might want to qualify whoever does the work by confirming that they are w/p specialists.

You can also call the registrar depts in museums and see if they will make referrals. LACMA, MOCA and the Hammer are places I would start. The Hammer-UCLA house the Grunwald Center for Graphic Arts. They might be helpful.

Print publishers and print dealers might also be great resources. http://www.ifpda.org/content/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; [International Fine Print Dealers Association]

Also, straight to the obvious...Maybe you should start by calling the OG office/gallery (Subliminal) and see if they can recommend conservators that already work on Shepard's prints.

I have a few old prints I've been wanting to restore for a while now, thanks for everyone's input and please keep the valuable information coming. It would be nice to have a sticky note in one of the forums about peoples' experiences with pro conservators' work. It would also be nice to know where these places are located so that shipping could be minimized as well as the risk of damage in transit. Let's keep these old prints looking sharp in the collection pool!
