Anographics Aluminum Obey prints: Are they authorized? (NO.)

Post by aust449 »

Cool aluminum panels, but they spell both Shepard and Fairey wrong, which makes me wonder.

The punchline for me is that they appear to be a numbered edition

I e-mailed a link to oBey about these yesterday asking about their legitimacy.
Since this outfit has worked with other artists, I would hope that these have some sort of approval.

I can't look at that image too long. The left side of the face is so messed up. This one should have been called, "Morphing Queen."

I noticed too that all of them except one (I think) have some kind of imperfection between the left of the owl and the obey symbol.

it's definitely a gamble when he says he has 50 but they look to be numbered out of 21 on the site!

I thought that was some sort of pen marking, it looks similar to the numbering. In any event, fingers crossed for all who pulled the trigger. I bit the bullet and went for one. He posted on EB that returns are accepted -- how could it go wrong? ;)

Seller posted this on EB:

"What a day. I ended selling more than the 50 that I have, but only by a few. If you still want the piece hang in there. I will only confirm the pay pal payment when I know I can olot the piece. Hardly any one will get the piece they wanted,I'm just going to send out random pieces, if that doesn't work, you might want to opt out. Thanks everyone, that was truly amazing and inspiring. How does Shep/Obey "authorize" them and still end up with his entire name misspelled?
