Re: Anticipation: THE LAST MOUNTAIN - 6/7/11
Cats kill 1 million birds a day in this country... Bat mortality is likely to be reduced by up to 80% by increasing cut-in speed, and bird mortality can be significantly reduced by micro-siting. Birds colliding with windows are responsible for millions of deaths a year... Wind turbine mortality acco...

Re: OFFICIAL ANTICIPATION: Obey Windmill
Both wind and wave power generation can have significant detrimental effects on wildlife. Migratory birds and bats are hit particularly hard by windfarms in certain places. Some places, such as the larger (Mars Hill) wind farms in Maine are outside of migratory flyways and generally don't tend to im...

Re: Energy Independence
Awesome -- too bad it's (probably) not going to be available as a print, as I'd buy it for sure... In answer to a previous question, there are plans for the first offshore windfarm (in the States) to be built off Block Island, RI right now. It's in the permitting process, and I've actually been luck...

Re: Best Wishes to Shepard! (re: trial, AP lawsuit, etc.)
Unless there are cameras, I have a tough time believing that they have anyway of proving it was him. This could just be a statement charge(s) that ends with an Obey PR campaign for Boston or the like... Failure to appear is serious though, and something Shep should have known better than to do. I th...

Re: New Peace Dove Rays / AK 47 Canvas Piece
The newspaper and collage materials come from a variety of sources. All of the newspaper is true vintage newsprint that is gathered from all over the place. Photocopies may be used for specific subjects like the AIM piece, but otherwise its just collected from old newspapers. We used alot of milita...

Re: New Peace Dove Rays / AK 47 Canvas Piece
I have a bit of a basic question regarding the collages that maybe someone can answer. I've noticed that a lot of the pieces (at least at the ICA) contain newsprint that is apparently quite old. Does Shep have a stash of old newspapers that he uses, or maybe he just makes copies of them? Some of the...

i think the "tour guides" are mainly there just to overlook and make sure no one snaps pictures. at least, thats all i could tell when i visited. didnt ask any questions, but saw them enforcing the whole no camera deal. I think you're right about most of the folks/kids/guards there, altho...

Re: Shepard Fairey @ Boston ICA 2/6/09-8/16/09
I know a lot (probably most) of you guys are not in the Boston area, but if by chance you are and you haven't gone to this yet -- DO IT!!! Free thursday nights really make it worthwhile. It really gives you a whole new appreciation of Shep's work. The only thing I was disappointed with was that the ...

I'll second that -- seems like it has to be as sought after as WBN, and I know I certainly can't afford the secondary market (and try to avoid it on principle)...

Just wondering why that makes this odd -- he has a couple water dogs after all, which are often hanging around the capitol...superfly snuka wrote:I think they just said on CNN that they got the dog from a breeder that they met through Ted Kennedy, which is makes this print some what odd.

I remember the original Progress drop and how the site was down for hours (or it would come up every once in a while)... I was in Canada at a buddy's house way out in the sticks, sitting up all night on a garbage-like wireless connection only to FAIL!!!! I did however get a small Progress and a sign...
