90s prints on ebay

Post by jjttdw »

Not mine.

Each print has some damage like pin holes etc. All these auctions started low:

96 Surveillance

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121057230595?ss ... 1423.l2649

98 Korean Soldier (from same seller as above)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121057268649?ss ... 1423.l2649

98 Castro

http://www.ebay.com/itm/321061662385?ss ... 1423.l2649

I think this is the same Castro that sold last year with a small hole in it. That same seller also sold a Che print for 2K. EDIT: it is not the same Castro print, the one that sold in Oct - 12 was unsigned.

Surveillance might be the best print ever.

The back of that Castro looks like Keith Richard's face.

Too bad that same technique didn't work with the real Castro.

That price seems about right.

Just like Castro it seems this print is more difficult to get rid of then originally thought. Its back up.

I pray that god gives this lovely print a good home. These do not come up very often, so those of you willing to pay $300 for a sticker should make sure you bid on this amazing original print.

Wow. I wish I was loaded. Right and left face framed nicely. Only $5k

Just like heavy metal, I bet someone makes an offer and it is sold outside of ebay. I would love to know what it sells for.

Oh, and then there is this, Black on Black

That Black on Black does not look like a '96 Fairey sig to me. It definitely looks like his sig, but maybe from 2002/2003. I wonder if backdated sigs effect the value versus having the original date sig.

I agree, his first name was legible back in the 90s. Since it's an AP, I wonder if Shep had unsold and unsigned APs and sold it or gave it away at a later date signing it at that time.

Most of the Black on Blacks around today were sold in 2000 and backdated. Some were at the 1st MK show. I've seen one in person that seemed to be a true 96, the rest looked like 2000. I've only seen AP's (including the 96) and never seen one with a number.

I didn't notice the signature but you're right. It doesn't look like something from the 90s. I flipped through a few prints and the ones from 00-03 look the most like the one on the Black on Black print. I don't mind the Black on Black signature and it doesn't affect the value in my eyes.

I do place a lower value on prints signed later if the print is pre 2001 and the signature is after 2004. There is no rhyme or reason to why I feel that way. Here is a nice example of a print from 2000 that looks to have a post 2004 signature.

That hammer is a good example of what I am talking about. If there were virtually no Black on Blacks with the old sig then so be it. But on hammer there are ones with the date appropriate sig. Probably most people wouldn't care, but these things sometimes come into play much further down the road.

How does one ask Shep? "Hey, could you sign this to make it look like it was signed in the 90s.. or just date it earlier?"

He usually uses the year of the print regardless of when he signs. So for the Hammer print you have a 00 year with a 2007 signature. I would imagine it would be hard for him to try to use a signature he abandoned 10+ years ago. I don't remember how I signed things years ago. The worst scenario would he that he tries to use his 5th grade signature and it looks like a fake.

I've got one of the run of 100 and mine does not look like the one below. A one off variant?
