I asked for a price earlier this week, which they would not give me.

I just followed up and... wow... 50k... All sold out too.

I was at Pace Prints a couple days ago, and they had it displayed behind the gallery assistants' desk. I didn't get to see it up close but the quality, color, and size were staggering. Here's a picture I took.

I would love to hear more on your opinion as I feel the same way.

I have a problem with posthumous editions that the artist was never involved in.

I'll make a comparison. Though it wouldn't be my preference, the estate of Dan Flavin has stated their intention to complete some of his editions. For example, he might have made 2 of a total of 5 planned pieces from an edition before he died. So, they are going to make the other three. We all know Flavin designed the edition. He built some of the edition. He intended to finish the edition. All documentation issued at the time shows it was to be an edition of 5.

Here, we have an estate reproducing a painting, never intended to be a print by the artist, decades after the artist's death, with no support that the artist ever intended to produce this work. They are 'authoring' this edition in his name.

The top one is acceptable to me. The bottom is just 'faux. It's not art; it's an exercise in branding.

Completely agree. Do you think this release does anything to the reputation of Pace? How is it that people do not consider these to be similar to Sunday B Morning Warhol prints?

Heck, weren't the original Sunday B Morning Warhols even the same screens, or was that just urban legend?

If so, I could see an argument, not that I would agree, that they would be more 'legit' than this current Basquiat edition.
