that is quite impressive, especially after reading that each comic page is hand painted, not a collage. wow.

That looks slick! It's definitely way out of my price range... looks great, though!
Maybe I'll settle for his Popaganda book... I dig a lot of his work, for sure.

I may be alone on this and/or maybe I don't understand English's work, BUT, this looks like he's insinuating our soldiers are just childish clowns. Help?

I like the execution but am missing/disagreeing with the message.

Great video on 'the making of.' Terrific detail involved in the process; incredible time spent.

I guess, though, we can dispense with Ron's conjecture that he doesn't "think anyone will misinterpret the piece as being disparaging to the troops." (I saw the same thing as Gigantico.)

I see that the military is a place that young men and women turn to for an advancement in their lives, but like the circus? I've never met anyone that joined the circus but I've known many in the military. To say that they were just following what the adults say, and infer that they were child-like in their adult decisions, I would be seriously insulting what they have done. The argument that someone is brainwashed can be used in any situation where the "believer" isn't in line with the "popular" thinking. I'm still not seeing it as something I like, but I think it really depends on the audience, which I expect Ron English has a huge one. The printmaking itself though is amazing, and big props for making something so complex, which is an art itself.

I am paraphrasing here, but, he said that back in the day, the circus was a way out. It was a way to escape your small town, life, family, etc. He equates that idea with the way the military brings in people that are looking for a leg up. I think it is hard to argue against the assertion that we have a military made up predominately of poor and working class individuals.

Again, I get the part about the circus. The argument that the folks that make up the military are predomiantly the poor is also reasonable. However, the idea that those in the military were fooled into fighting by people smarter than themselves is not somewhere I would go, that's all. I'm thankful that our forces are still all voluntary, and that people with bigger balls than me, have stepped up to the challenge.
