Personalized - MC Skuly - Skol 1

Post by Capita »

Hey all - I'm new to the group.

I have a Jesse Nubian in my collection that is personalized. It is an AP and center bottom it says "To MC Skuly - Skol 1"

Any chance that someone here knows the significance?

Do personalizations impact the value significantly?

Welcome to the board

would probably be significant if your name was MC Skuly, on prints that old i don't think it matters too much, personally I would rather not have a print that was personalized to someone else but on the really hard to find stuff i think i would still take it

Also here is a thread with some discussion on prints inscribed to someone else

I have a print that is personalized to someone else and I don't mind it at all.
The fact that Shepard took the extra second to personalize that specific print makes it special.
I guess I'm sentimental like that.

I have a 'Viva La Posse' that has a similar inscription, that I posted about back in Jan 2007.

Jason responded: "It's definitely his handwriting...my guess it says 'Public Skoly #1', and the poster is signed to his friend, Skoly (aka Skully), with the reference to Public Enemy."

And swellstylez said "Skully worked at BLK/MRKT in San Diego back in the day..."

I have a sticker by Skully on my case. Look to the left side - green and yellow skull on the flap.

Also - good memory mikep!

Pulling this one out of the past for the old heads.

Any ideas on whether Skully/Skuly/MC Skuly/Skol 1 is a practicing artist? I'm struggling to find a reference.

back in the "day" it was very common for Grafettie artist to put a "1" after their name . it signified that they were the 1st and or the best.
