Here's my first of two pieces I created for the No Toon Left Behind show, a tribute to the memory of Saturday Morning Cartoons:

“Hey Hey Hey” (Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids)
size: 12″ x 12″

Screen print on plexiglass that is mounted above a screen printed, hand painted, emulsion transfer and collaged wood panel - signed and numbered on the back.

WORK IN PROGRESS PHOTO - hand painted with emulsion transfer and collage layers

Nice eye :)

The peewee piece has bits from the police report and the Cosby piece has bits from the court papers that he was fighting to keep from going public. The peewee material is more obvious as it has his name on it. No pills on the Cosby piece but I did throw in a Sleepys logo that was printed on the back of a receipt I had. It was probably a bit much for some but the Sleepys slogan is "trust in Sleepys for the rest of your life" and gets stuck in my head when I see the logo so I thought it would add a subtle touch.

i was playing with the idea of adding the red bow tie to the peewee piece to bring in his character, to add a little red to tie it in with the sleepys logo and because i thought it would be funny to add it to the mug shot but it just wasn't working how i imagined so i scrapped it.

Limited Shelf Life - a solo exhibition of works by John Grayson

On Saturday, January 30th (1.30.2016), I will be having my first solo art show, titled "Limited Shelf Life," at Sub-Urban Vinyl Toys and Art in Waldwick, NJ.

I've been preparing and working on the show for many months and am extremely happy with how everything is coming together. I'm hoping to have 18-20 finished pieces for and will be posting more photos as I take them. PLEASE let me know what you think!

If you're in the area on January 30th, I'd be honored if you could join me that night and enjoy some art.

What is this "emulsion" I keep reading about in reference to art making? Is it hipster code for paint?
