Thanks. I actually have my work cut out for me... I am going to add connector lines throughout to be able to make stencils for spraypainting. I'm sure I will have to simplify the label.

Hey Skoola is Q5 open on the weekend? I know where Quintons is and I will be in town for the KU springball game this weekend and I would love to see your piece. If not I will make a trip during the week (just down the corridor from you in Shawnee)

Well the last show was open Friday night only, I haven't heard if this has changed for this month. I will keep you posted.

Here is my finished piece for the show tomorrow night at Q5 Gallery here in Lawrence, KS.

"The One and Only"
stencil and spraypaint
16x20 canvas board in ghetto wood frame
Image

The stencils for this piece were a bear to construct and a bear to use on the canvas board. I am thinking of looking into getting some screenprints made up if there is any interest.

The show is only open from 4:30 - 9:30 tomorrow night. If you are going to make it PM me and we'll exchange digits.

Very nice, have fun at the show Skoola! If possible, please take or post photos of the overall vibe, I love seeing how the pieces are presented and work together.

Thanks everybody. The show was fun, it's kind of a different vibe, seems this venue is more hanging out with friends than a art show. Definitely not knocking it, it was still awesome to display a piece for people that normally wouldn't see my stuff.

Here are a few pics my wife took. I should have taken more but I was mingling too much :)

I finished up a piece last night while engaged in the fantasy football draft. This will be showing at Q5 Gallery in Lawrence tomorrow night.

Elizabeth Taylor
17.5" x 17.5" individually painted wood cutouts assembled and floated on a laser cut "frame"

I'm hoping to sell this tomorrow to fund my first run of screen prints.

Thats cool! So is it lasered out and painted or wood layed on top of eachother and painted?
Hard to tell from the pic, looks cool though.

This would definitely be a cool piece to see in person and try to figure out. It looks like it's all cut into pieces, then painted, then put back together like a puzzle, then put onto the black backing piece.

I always have trouble with my photography skills. Each color you see is a fully cut out piece of wood. I then spray paint the individual pieces and assemble them back together. Kind of like putting a puzzle together.

Sounds cool, i bet it gives it real depth that a photo just cant capture.
Good luck with showing it, im sure it will sell.
