Ministry of Information -Behind the scenes of Obey!
Welcome to the new Ministry of Information thread! Here you will find insider information, behind the scenes photos and information direct to you from Obey Giant.
Jason did an amazing job with his thread "Factory Worker" and we have some huge shoes to fill. Shepard, Jaspr and I met and we came up with some new ideas to make this fun and interactive.
If you have complaints, questions about your order, damage claims or negative comments please email the studio orders@obeygiant.com or post something in the Giant vs. Giant thread. Please refrain from posting those topics here because we will not respond.
Today we will open up with a contest for (3) 2009 Holiday Prints and 1 clear sticker pack.
Email your entries to orders@obeygiant.com with the subject line as Contest 1, Contest 2 or Contest 3. Entires will be judge by the order in which they are received. Only one winner per household. Obey reserves the right to cancel or revoke any entries.
Contest 1: (Two winners)
Prize: Obey Holiday Print 2009
Ends when the first TWO photographs are received.
Email us a photograph of a shipping label from the old San Diego studio. The photograph must also show something with today's date like a newspaper.
Contest 2: ( One Winner)
Prize: Obey Holiday Print 2009
Ends when the first correct answer is received.
Who said that Obey was the busy bee that pollinated their art? Who said this and where did you find the answer!?
Contest 3: ( One Winner)
Prize: A handful of clear obey stickers that will never be released.
Ends when the first answer is received.
What was the address of the San Diego studio? ( Clear sticker pack)
Today Glen E Friedman and Shepard signed their latest collaboration print of Cornel West. The release date is unknown at this time. Here is a quick biography of Cornel West from wikipedia "
Cornel Ronald West (born June 2, 1953) is an American philosopher, author, critic, actor, and civil rights activist, as well as a prominent member of the Democratic Socialists of America. West currently serves as the Class of 1943 University Professor at Princeton University, where he teaches in the Center for African American Studies and in the department of Religion.
West is known for his combination of political and moral insight and criticism, and his contribution to the post-1960s civil rights movement. The bulk of his work focuses upon the role of race, gender, and class in American society and the means by which people act and react to their “radical conditionedness." West draws intellectual contributions from such diverse traditions as the African American Baptist Church, pragmatism and transcendentalism."
Jaspr and I have a few more things to photograph today and we look forward to sharing with you guys! Good luck on the contest everyone!

A. you should email all submissions and B. that's wrong.

you don't read directions very well do you? posting a photo in this thread doesn't enter you in the contest.... but it will allow someone else to steal the photo and submit it themselves.comiconart wrote:

Well, I think the studio was in a few different locations, wasn't it? I mean...I know it was located above Hooters at 410 Market St at one point, right...? But the contest isn't specific in asking for the first location...?Backpackpunk wrote:comiconart wrote:studio at 705 12th ave, SD, CA, 92101?

And I didn't see an e-mail address given for the contest. Are we just supposed to e-mail orders@obeygiant.com...?

Being at work sucks but I love this idea. Thanks to Shepard, Jaspr and TheOmethod for the opportunity
This thread is not going to disappoint. If it is even half as good as Jason's thread, then we are all in for something really good.
Glad to see Shepard continuing to embrace thegiant.org (even after the lashing on Writing on the Wall)

Man toobs, you are pretty hard to satisfy, we know you don't like any thing Obey anymore as you post that in every anticipation thread, and know you don't even like a contest that gives away free prints that most people don't have access to.toobs wrote:i feel like Ralphie after he got his secret decoder ring from orphan annie " drink your ovaltine ?" . . . really . . .
