I've always wondered what I'd feel if some of my art was resold. How do you feel about it?

I always thought it'd be a little flattering, but at the same time it'd burn a little.

I sorta' consider it a burn considering someone actually bid on it at that horribly inflated price, and it's not even sold out yet...SO...I did this:

I didn't want to resort to using the Bay, but I guess you have to fight fire with fire...Again, I'm just shocked that with all the places I advertised my work, someone is still overpaying and not trying to find the source of the prints and pay the original price. I wonder if the same thing is happening with Obey and there are actually people out there who don't know about obeygiant.com?

Yeah, man. Way to be proactive about it, for sure. Now people can buy your new prints and get a feedback star on eBay... it's a win-win :D

thank you much! I was really thrilled with how it turned out. For an image that's been described as "brutal", it's really kind of pretty to look at. Anyway...:D

People! Start posting pics of them when you get them. Again, I'd love to see them.

hire him! :D

my thought on this-
you set the price of your print, a price that you are happy getting for it. they are selling. this guy bought one and took a risk that it could sell for more. it got a bid validating your art is worth more and introducing your art to a ton of new art collectors who if they were not an idiot would look you up and collect you direct. then You put one on ebay and said you did this to discourage flippers. I think it stops there. if this guy wants to buy why do you care? your getting the price you are happy with. he might wrap a present with it and that would make me cringe to see, but buyers are not paying to become the caretaker of the item.
I do realize the edition is not sold out and you could choose to think his action is to slight you if you want to try.

I was a valet at pebble beach for a year. at the end of the night i had 30. in tips and the other guys had over 100.
I was new, the other guys had figured something out. it used to frustrate me and i would go home angry about it. my boss had a talk with me that fixed me. I use this wisdom in everything I do now.

Andrew, you said it perfectly. thats exactly what I think about this situation.

JB, I don't think it would be a good move to impede anyone from purchasing your art at this stage in your career.

Best of luck!

I agree...at "this point" it wouldn't do anyone any good...I'm going to let it slide this time. Who knows? Maybe this person REALLY needs to funds or something. In that case, I'm glad I could help someone out. Anyway...:)

Well said Andrew, I feel exactly the same way.

And JB, looks like you've got the makings of a client list going, so if it were me I'd concentrate on that, by feeding these clients/flippers all the new prints, originals and info you can. And since you're not having same day sellouts you don't have to limit the orders yet.

Hell, Van Gogh might've been jealous.
