I don't think the OP meant that if you don't drink or smoke you will score prints. It would be smeared if that's what he meant.jshea wrote:Are you really trying to imply that the you score prints because you don't drink or smoke?Raggadrop wrote:Straightedge and always get prints...and have plenty cash to do so. On the other hand, if you're not drunk or hung over you probably have a better chance at scoring a print.

Well, it doesn't work for everyone, that's for sure. I don't drink or smoke, and I still missed out

let me start off with this: yes! i will admit to being a hardcore lurker here. but i just really have to add my 2 cents to the way you guys feel!Bonesy wrote:I havent read 1 page here, let alone 93 pages. Ive defended the Obey cart system for the past year and a half, but personally Im done with it. At this point it is f-ing ridiculous that they dont take the profits from 1 week of sales (there are probably 45 sale weeks in a year at this point) and seriously re-vamp there system, for real this time. I really didnt dig this print too much, but if there is something I want I'll get it on ebay. There are so many people buying these just to immediately re-sell that Im willing to pay the $100-$125 instead of wasting 3 days.
for those of us/you that have been trying for shepard's prints for some time now, you have already gone through the emotional roller coaster of attempting to buy, buying & miserably failing to buy prints. do the words peace bomber bring back any memories? what about hope? personally, i really enjoy this cart system and/or the way that the guys @ studio 1 release these prints. how many fairweather fans have hung around 3 days to buy this print? imo, more of the true fans and/or extreme flippers stick around to buy these things. hopefully it's the 'more true fans' and not the latter. just look at how many of you are fed up with the system & claim to be 'done' with all of this! i think that this is exactly what they want. you know as well as i do that they could upgrade their servers, cart system etc whenever they want. they have just chosen not to. and for very good reason. look at the demand. look at the supply. then look at the buying process. totally screwed up for the casual fan. but perfectly normal for the true collector. the question now becomes, how much can you put up with? for how long? and at what expense? for the true collector, these questions are easily answered-whatever it takes. but for the casual fan and/or flipper? serious questions to ponder.
like i said, just my 2 cents. and from someone who is just a lurker. i just think that getting so upset & blaming 'them' is just smeared. it's not their fault. it's yours for not accepting that this is the process of how to purchase a genuine limited edition & very popular obey print.

At least with the current system, there is some wiggle room, albeit hectic wiggle room, that gives you more than one chance if you happen to screw up. I'm not saying it's perfect or the best, but it could be worse.
Yes, other popular artists have already done. Emek is one. Careful what you wish for.

Well, since I was able to get this print I admit that the cart system serves OG's purpose: to get the prints to the "true" fans. Shep still sells his prints for cheap and is still concerned with flippers. This cart is a nice way to "weed out" those who don't care as much. Again, I got the print so I am able to see this side of the argument. One the other hand, what about the "true" fans who were left out?

well, if you read into my previous post, you would have read that for those of you/us who have previous experience buying, or attempting to buy shep prints, you know what it's like. high when you get one, miserable if you don't. my response was mainly for those who find it totally their duty to come into this forum & complain about how horrible the obeygiant website is, the checkout, the cart sys, and blasting the studio 1 guys for a horrible internet setup. you see it over & over again. my point was that for the experienced buyer, this is nothing out of the ordinary. i will not say i have been able to grab every single release. it's just not possible with the amount of traffic on the site during a drop day. but i'm not gonna go on & on & on & on....about how they run their business, after every single drop that occurs.*devo* wrote:Well, since I was able to get this print I admit that the cart system serves OG's purpose: to get the prints to the "true" fans. The frustration is being voiced by even the most experienced buyers. The thing is that true fans are getting locked out by a poorly thought out and designed system that could easily be fixed if the studio actually cared. They obviously don't mind having a release that takes 3 days to put out. Its not a professional way to run a business unless all you want is to throw product out the door which is what they are accomplishing. What they aren't doing is making a good portion of their customers happy with the way the process goes. All of us know that the system will likely be bad. The level of how bad it is and the lack of concern (or acting upon that concern) by OG is the issue

I will say that those who have an office job (or students who use a computer, etc.) are 10 times more likely to be able to get this print. If you had a job at the mall, or delivering pizzas, or any other non-computer job, it is a lot to ask someone to stay by their computer all day. For the "true fans" who work away from a computer this system has to be super frustrating. I don't hear this talked about much. I work at a computer so no problem for me.
