My Obey Icon quilt arrived at Casa de Monkey this week.
The material is heavier than I thought it was going to be (a good thing when you're talking about quilts), double-ply with heavy-duty stitching.
It's quite large, too.
So I did what any self-respecting fan of Obey Giant art would do...
I flipped it.
One of the really nice things about it is, because of its size, you get the full-on Andre effect from far away but, as you get closer to it, and wrap yourself up in it, the pattern becomes a cool abstraction.
It will definitely be hauled back out to intimidate the opposing teams once football season rolls back around. Andre the Giant's Posse runs the Spread Offense.
I thought long and hard about how to describe how much I like it in words Mr. Revs could understand, and the best I can do is to say that if I saw it hanging up on a wall on some city street, I would certainly be tempted to pull it down and take it home with me.
It all seriousness, it's an awesome quilt and has already gotten some use warming my ancient monkey bones, and I couldn't be happier having won it.
