love it!

windmills get some criticism over here (uk) for being a blot on the landscape and spoiling natural views but i have to say i love how they look, something very graceful about how they move despite being so huge.

Awesome -- too bad it's (probably) not going to be available as a print, as I'd buy it for sure...

In answer to a previous question, there are plans for the first offshore windfarm (in the States) to be built off Block Island, RI right now. It's in the permitting process, and I've actually been lucky enough to do some pelagic survey work to get it going...

Come on Shep -- release a couple of these -- it'd look great on my office wall...

cool beans. i know uk has these farms. i sincerely hope we can catch up with the alternative energy investment in the states. in addition to offload our dependency to foreign oil, it will give chrysler and chevy factory workers an opportunity to find a new gig.

My quick opinion on energy independence that no one asked for.

In the U.S. coal/oil/fuel is cheaper than solar/wind/etc so government has to subsidize alternative energy to make it competitive. Funny thing is that Govt has policies that essentially subsidize fuel in the first place. If Gas etc was same price as Europe, alternative energy would be much more feasible in the U.S.

Quickest and easiest way to have energy independence is to tax the hell out of fuel. This will never happen because voters would revolt over $5 gas and all politicians are scared of angry voters.

...as they should be. They work for us. If gas went up to $5 a gallon due to supply/demand issues in the world economy, than oh well, I would have to deal with it. If gas went up to $5 a gallon because my government wanted to make alternative energy more "attractive" to Joe the Plummer, I would be bullgarbage. Until there are alternatives to gasoline pwered vehicles this cannot be allowed to happen.

a gas tax dissproportionately affects people of lower income. any gas tax would have to coincide with a phase out credit for some people.

It was designed by the admonkeys at Crispin Porter + Bogusky. I seriously doubt it will be mass produced by anyone other than a bootlegger.

I prefer the look of Obey Windmill. it has a more forboding feel to it.
