Though the fact that you are such a huge obey fan AND help with this forum AND make cupcakes makes you one of the coolest chicks on the planet.illyanadmc wrote:by the time i crowned myself official cupcake maker, i think most people around here were aware of my gender. it used to happen a lot more frequently.whyhoo wrote:alright anyone that saw "cupcake maker" and called you "bro"... well, i don't actually have a punchline here.illyanadmc wrote:as a girl who has frequently been called "bro" or "man" or "dude" or whatever (on this forum, not in real life), i say don't worry about it.Prints_of_Thieves wrote:lol such high aspirations you have...for a mere mortal. Seriously I never knew, I think the numerous times we spoke I always said "thanks bro" or something like that. Dang. Oh well.

Let's see... More powerful than a mere mortal, check. Stuck dealing with the likes of me thus not as powerful as a full fledged goddess, check. Must be another demigoddess.

Re: Official Anticipation: Jasper Johns
I was thinking more ancient Greece and Rome, but I guess there is probably just as much stigma attached to either preoccupation. Unfortunately it all fits me a little too well... That's why I try so hard to be into Shepard Fairey to counter balance with at least a little bit of cool.

how's that working out for you?rumspring wrote: That's why I try so hard to be into Shepard Fairey to counter balance with at least a little bit of cool.
nothing can dent my anti-coolness armor, sadly.
Re: Official Anticipation: Jasper Johns
I don't think it is working. I'm probably just a bit too close to the fan boy side of the continuum for it to help.jak88 wrote:how's that working out for you?rumspring wrote: That's why I try so hard to be into Shepard Fairey to counter balance with at least a little bit of cool.

Does anybody know if the series will be a collab between Shep and Michael (Tighe)? I really like some of Tighe's photos and do think these will transfer into prints well in Shep's style. Looking forward to this series.

Re: Official Anticipation: Jasper Johns
This one has been tough, I've been debating for days --I like the look, but I spend the last 7 1/2 years living one block from the corporate headquarters of the Target Corp in downtown Minneapolis, as well as their experimental store a 1/2 block down. I'm very familiar with Jasper Johns, and I've been lucky enough to look at the great collection of his works they have at LACMA, but I just can't get past the reminder of one of MN's homespun corporate behemoths.
I can't get away from the "Obey Target Employee" feeling. I buy prints that I would put up in my house, and this one would definitely get the "I didn't know the Obey guy sold out and did a Target print" response way too often --especially over here. A durn shame. So I reluctantly pass. I look forward to future images in this series.
Besides, I need to save money to finally put up the Ataturk variations.
