100 editions of 1, haha! no wonder they're not selling, what a cheap trick.
Each one is screened and then hand painted making each one unique. They aren't just screenprints...

The reason why they're not selling is because of the price tag. I absolutely love lister, one of my favorite artists, but selling 100 prints at $600 each is a tall order for someone whose art doesn't have a broad mass appeal. It's still a lot of money even for someone who's a fan like myself. Papermonster is having a heck of a time selling a print of his that was released a while ago for $600 and the POW distortion field can only sell so many prints.

You can get one of his fine art hand painted masks for less or a small painting of his for a little more. There's just a very small market for high priced lister prints.

Looking at all of the images, these seem like a good deal if you are into Lister's work.
He took some time to actually paint on these rather than just adding paint streaks or splatters to the background.
Nice that you can choose the one you want also.

I don't understand why he hasn't blown up yet... Maybe the price of his work is preventing him from gaining new fans.

I can get past the "trick." I just don't find them as interesting as the prints at papermonster. Those originals on wood look nice.

Or probably because he does a show in a different country every month for the past 5 years. The quality control is seriously lacking. Please someone tell him to stop and edit sometime.

he come from that generation from 2007 to 2009 that went up 25 rungs of the cost ladder in 4 1/2 minutes. The nude piece on artnet that sold recently was an example of how much he should be charging IMO. There are so many talented guys i would like to buy that just seem to have overstepped the mark; WK Interact, Matt Small, Adam Neate, David Choe.......

Agree with both havana and simococo. In early '08 his NY gallery told me he was being courted by Deitch. Guess that just never came together. It seemed like he was at least on the right track to get higher-end art world buy in until he started pumping out paintings like there was no tomorrow. Lyons Weir Ortt had at least 4 or 5 gigantic, but mediocre Lister canvases in the back room when I randomly stopped in.

Its a tough position. Lower prices and risk alienating the guys who were paying top dollar 3 years ago and who helped pay for now or keep prices in the orbit and sell nothing. I can see how everyone has tried to keep going by painting smaller pieces on found objects, releasing hand finished prints by the dozen, drawings and sculptures.......

Its got to the point where it has to stop. For Lister I could tell that no way was he going to sell many paintings in the UK in 2011, but he had to do 100 hand finished works, not 10 or 20, but 100! More unsold inventory for another gallerys back room and then on to another gallery, another show and loads more unsold stock. Elms Lesters has loads of unsold stock from the last two shows he did. AND, I like Lister! Ha ha! But he and other artists keep on churning it out like its water in a desert.

I would mention other artists who keep making 'affordable' hand finished works by the dozen, whilst their auction prices continue to head south and demand has dried up but it's Listers thread, but maybe they all know something I don't.

What a difference 3 years makes for all artists. And, everyone has to eat. If everything was quality I don't think we would be having this conversation.
