Hmmm.TheOmethod wrote:The idea is not dead... we have notified those who have returned tubes at the studio as a last and final chance. The next step is opening them
I wonder if one of those is the Eagle Mountain print I never received

Re: Obey Giant Blind Box Art?
It's a moot point now, but my understanding of the Blind Box Art is that it was going to be blind tubes of prints created from scratch, using the Obey print archives as the source. So one tube might have 5 Big Proofs, another tube might have Mark of the Giant, Van, Big Brother, Ak-47 Right and another tube might have Motorhead, Zaptista, Peace Elephant Gold, etc. and so on. Maybe I sound crazy, but one can dream!TheOmethod wrote:As linked above, not happening
Anyway, I figured the above would be a great idea!

Wow, seriously? I always just thought it would be mildly interesting things they had left over from shipments. Dare to dream boys.slidingaround wrote:Thats what i thought it was gonna be.JErikR wrote:It's a moot point now, but my understanding of the Blind Box Art is that it was going to be blind tubes of prints created from scratch, using the Obey print archives as the source. Yeah. I would have been all over that scenario though.slidingaround wrote:Wishful thinking huh?djsp wrote:Wow, seriously? Re: Obey Giant Blind Box Art?
I guess it would depend on how many old prints would have been in there. I could say comfortably $100 to start.slidingaround wrote:

Re: Obey Giant Blind Box Art?
Heck, even if the blind tubes had just one mystery or potential "dream" print in them, how cool would that be?djsp wrote:I guess it would depend on how many old prints would have been in there. I could say comfortably $100 to start.slidingaround wrote:

Re: Obey Giant Blind Box Art?
With stuff from the 90s I would go quite a bit higher.....$250. Would suck to get Big Proof for that but I would pay it anyway.djsp wrote:I guess it would depend on how many old prints would have been in there. I could say comfortably $100 to start.slidingaround wrote:

Re: Obey Giant Blind Box Art?
I don't think it was ever seriously considered to be truly vintage material (nice as it is to dream of). IIRC Kyle mentioned something along the lines of clearing out "returned to sender" tubes that came back as undeliverable/bad address scenarios. Sure always a chance of some from the 90s, but more likely from the "a new print every Tuesday" era. Volume releases = volume returns.

I suppose it fits nicely with my pattern of believing when I go to bed I will wake up to a winning lottery ticket instead on matching one number on a $5 ticket.libertarian wrote:I don't think it was ever seriously considered to be truly vintage material (nice as it is to dream of).
