seriously, the mods are awesome - this is the first spam post i've ever seen on here. i am usually not refreshing a million times a minute, though; i usually check the forums once or twice per day.

haha, it was a bunch of URLs, but i think i did see the word "viagra" in there somewhere. i would just tell you to PM the spammer, but i think adam already deleted him, cuz i don't see him on the member list!

Alot of forums have been hit by those kind of spambots. A big long list of urls for everything from pr0n to Viagra. Maybe they're trying to tell me something :?

yah, but then guests wouldn't be able to post at all, which is kind of uncool, i guess.

but it takes like basically 3 seconds to sign up?

whens the last time we had a guest post without it being a mistake of someone who just forgot to sign in

I would have to agree with the above. The sign up process is so simple I doubt it's going to deter anyone, especially since it's the norm to be asked to sign up before you post on most forums.

i run http://www.iphotoforum.com - it will be online 4 years in feb and has 4500+ members and creaping in on 200,000 posts... even w/ CAPTCHA turned on for members to register, it still gets nailed w/ spam on a daily basis... its just how the internet works, sad huh?

as for the number online.. a LOT of times the "guests" are bots from google, msn, etc., crawling the site and indexing it for better search results in their engines

Last night they were legit guests. It shows me when they are bots.
