The American Indian Movement Grand Governing Council recently honored Shep for his unwavering support of oppressed peoples and struggles, along with his lifelong dedication to creating awareness and generous charitable giving to the worlds most vulnerable peoples – from those suffering from the genocide in Darfur to the indigenous struggle for dignity by the Zapatistas in Chiapas. We honored Shep in our traditional ways and presented him and Amanda with a drum and pipe in a traditional ceremony.

Our deepest respect and thanks to our brother Shep, our sister Amanda, as well as the entire OBEY - SNO family.

We thought it would be nice to share a few images of this very special ceremony. Please be respectful with any comments in that this was a very sacred moment shared between us all. Any questions can be sent directly via PM.

Super cool. Got any close ups of the peace pipe? Looks like Red Catlinite.

The pipe is made from the sacred pipestone or red catlinite found here in SW Minnesota, quarried in Pipestone, MN and carved especially for Shep. Hand carved buffalo pipe bowl, also choke cherry drumstick with elk hide and buffalo hair.
